A neat, everyday mug for a single espresso-strength coffee or a small cup of tea, glazed in Rocky Hillside. This Small Mug is thrown on the wheel in my home studio in Congleton, Cheshire, with a compact body shaped to sit comfortably in the hand and a hand-pulled handle sized to match. Once thrown, it's turned and finished by hand the next day, then dried, bisque fired, glazed, and fired again before it's ready to use.
Rocky Hillside is blue over a soft sand, drawn from walking the gritstone edges above Macclesfield — a colder blue than Cornflower, sitting on something warmer.
A smaller mug for a smaller moment

Small differences in shape, glaze movement, colour and texture are part of each piece's unique character. An unglazed, sanded base is normal, and fine crazing may appear over years of use — a natural trait of glazed stoneware.
