A handy salt pig for keeping salt within easy reach of the cooker, glazed in Woodland. This Salt Pig is thrown on the wheel in my home studio in Congleton, Cheshire, with a wide opening sized for a pinch of salt or a small spoon. Once thrown, it's turned and finished by hand the next day, then dried, bisque fired, glazed, and fired again before it's ready to use.
Woodland is a soft green over a rustic sand, taken from the woods close to the studio in early autumn, when the moss is still bright and the leaf litter underneath has gone warm and dry.
A pinch of salt, always within reach

This is the exact piece shown in the photos, not a similar one, since every piece is thrown and glazed entirely by hand, small differences in shape, glaze movement and colour are part of its unique character. Once it's gone, it's gone.

Small differences in shape, glaze movement, colour and texture are part of each piece's unique character. An unglazed, sanded base is normal, and fine crazing may appear over years of use — a natural trait of glazed stoneware.

Dishwasher and microwave safe. Avoid oven, grill, hob or open flame, thermal shock, and abrasive scourers.
