A tall tumbler-style cup, perfect for an iced coffee or a cold drink, glazed in Cornflower. This Thumb Cup is thrown on the wheel in my home studio in Congleton, Cheshire, with a traditional thumb and finger indent built into the body for a comfortable, secure grip. Once thrown, it's turned and finished by hand the next day, then dried, bisque fired, glazed, and fired again before it's ready to use.
Cornflower is a soft blue poured over white, left to gather and deepen where it pools, with the clay showing through at the edges — no two pieces carry quite the same markings.

This is the exact cup shown in the photos, not a similar one, since every piece is thrown and glazed entirely by hand, small differences in shape, glaze movement and colour are part of its unique character. Once it's gone, it's gone.

Small differences in shape, glaze movement, colour and texture are part of each piece's unique character. An unglazed, sanded base is normal, and fine crazing may appear over years of use — a natural trait of glazed stoneware.
