A generous, hand-thrown mug for a proper cup of tea or a long morning coffee, glazed in Sea Breeze. This Large Mug is thrown on the wheel in my home studio in Congleton, Cheshire, with a wide, easy-to-hold body and a hand-pulled handle shaped for a comfortable grip. Once thrown, it's turned and finished by hand the next day, then dried, bisque fired, glazed, and fired again before it's ready to use.
Sea Breeze is turquoise breaking over sand, inspired by summers on the Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales, where the water turns properly green in the shallows and the beach is the colour of unfired clay.
Made to be used every day
- Approx. 12cm tall, 10cm across the belly
- Holds approximately 420ml
- Hand-pulled handle with a thumb rest
- Dishwasher and microwave safe — avoid the oven, grill, hob and open flame
This is the exact mug shown in the photos, not a similar one, since every piece is thrown and glazed entirely by hand, small differences in shape, glaze movement and colour are part of its character, not a flaw. Once it's gone, it's gone.

The handmade character
Small differences in shape, glaze movement, colour and texture are part of each piece's unique character. An unglazed, sanded base is normal, and fine crazing may appear over years of use — a natural trait of glazed stoneware.

Dishwasher and microwave safe. Avoid oven, grill, hob or open flame, thermal shock, and abrasive scourers.
