A generous, hand-thrown mug for a proper cup of tea or a long morning coffee, glazed in Rocky Hillside. This Large Mug is thrown on the wheel in my home studio in Congleton, Cheshire, with a wide, easy-to-hold body and a hand-pulled handle shaped for a comfortable grip. Once thrown, it's turned and finished by hand the next day, then dried, bisque fired, glazed, and fired again before it's ready to use.
Rocky Hillside is blue over a soft sand, drawn from walking the gritstone edges above Macclesfield — a colder blue than Cornflower, sitting on something warmer.
Made to be used every day
- Approx. 12cm tall, 10cm across the belly
- Holds approximately 420ml

This is the exact mug shown in the photos, not a similar one, since every piece is thrown and glazed entirely by hand, small differences in shape, glaze movement and colour are part of its unique character. Once it's gone, it's gone.

Small differences in shape, glaze movement, colour and texture are part of each piece's unique character. An unglazed, sanded base is normal, and fine crazing may appear over years of use — a natural trait of glazed stoneware.
